Step 2: Learn the Format of the Test

1. The exam is broken up into 4 main sections:

2. English: 5 passages, 75 questions, 45 minutes

3. A mixture of grammar & content questions

4. Math: 60 questions, 60 minutes

5. A mixture of pre-algebra, geometry, algebra I & II, & trigonometry concepts

6. Reading: 4 passages, 40 questions, 35 minutes

7. Fours sections: Prose Fiction, Social Science, Humanities, and Natural Science

8. One passage is divided into two related passages

9. Science Reasoning: 6-7 passages, 40 questions, 35 minutes

10. Ignore the word Science. Focus on the word Reasoning.

11. There is also an optional writing test

12. Many colleges require that you take this section once.

13. Student have 45 minutes to complete a 4-6 paragraph essay.
