College of the Week: Lewis & Clark College

Nestled in the fir-covered bluffs that surround the city of Portland, with the ever present Mount Hood in view, Lewis & Clark’s campus is unique even among its liberal arts compatriots. The college boasts a rigorous academic curriculum, particularly in core humanities subjects including International Affairs and Sociology, excellent study abroad opportunities, a collaborative learning environment, including a plethora of opportunities to work directly with professors, and a diverse range of off-campus opportunities. Portland is, in many ways, a sister city to Minneapolis. The campus is close to the airport, while being both removed enough from Portland to feel like a real campus but close enough for students to soak in the full experience of living in a new city.

Good fit for... Socially and environmentally-conscious, outdoorsy, Twin Cities applicants, who are seeking a small, liberal arts experience but don’t want to be too close to home and are concerned about their low grades freshman year.

Notable opportunities include... The Bates Center for Entrepreneurship, College Outdoors, Club and Division III sports, Hidden Gem Classes, and the Rogers Summer Science Research Program
